Galeries Lafayette Doha has showcased the work of Qatar-based Serbian graffiti artist Dimitrije Bugarski.
The initiative "upholds the brand’s values and continues its patronage of art and local artists", according to a press statement.
A special gathering was organised recently for members of the media and bloggers, where the artist expressed himself through a live painting on a canvas measuring 2.5m in height and 5m in length.
Known for his artwork at the Doha Fire Station, ‘100 Days of Blockade’, Bugarski is the new artist of the season at Galeries Lafayette Doha’s Art Corner. His art exhibition, 'Recall', will be on display at the French department store until September 15.

The exhibition draws inspiration from the artist's early-childhood obsession with cheetahs.

The exhibition draws inspiration from the artist's early-childhood obsession with cheetahs. The new art collection can be considered a remake of his first drawings, which were simplified but vivid at the same time. Eleven pieces exhibited in 'Recall' show the cheetah and explore different styles the shape can take, the statement explains.
Talking about the collaboration with Galeries Lafayette Doha, Bugarski said: “It is indeed a pleasure to be able to display my work at one of the most iconic landmarks of Qatar. It is a perfect stage for reaching out to the public and letting them experience my art, which is a manifestation of my thoughts and ideas."
The Serbian graffiti and visual artist combines realism with abstraction through his focus on street art as a way of using public art as an urban intervention. He has been involved in a number of projects in Doha, most notable being the watchtower at the Doha Fire Station, the drive-in project at Aspire Zone and Katara Hospitality, the statement adds.
