The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has taken part in a forum at the ongoing Najah Qatari (Qatari Success) Festival, organied by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
MME representatives talked about the ministry's public services and answered questions from the audience. 
Ahmed Mohamed al-Sada, assistant undersecretary for environment affairs, stressed that the MME has a strategic vision to protect the local environment and guarantee sustainable development in all fields, especially in the urban, agriculture, industrial and other fields.
He explained that the MME is keen to avoid the negative impacts of these projects or limit the adverse consequences to the level permissible by the highest relevant global standards through the ministry's environmental licensing and evaluation mechanism. 
The official pointed out that after the completion of a project, MME carries out monitoring through its environmental control mechanism to guarantee that it would work according to the standards. 
Regarding the efforts of the MME in increasing trees and vegetation, al-Sada stressed that it has an initiative to plant a million trees, which was launched by HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani during the 7th Qatar International Agriculture Exhibition. 
Besides, the environmental sector is working according to a comprehensive strategy to restore the Qatari desert vegetation and preserve the wildlife, in addition to planting saplings of the endangered plants.
In the meantime, Doha Municipality director, Jamal Matar al-Nuaimi, pointed out the many public services offered, including cleaning and beautification.
