KPMG’s 2019 Change Readiness Index (CRI) has ranked Qatar among the top 20 countries in the world that are well prepared to embrace change.
The country ranked 12th out of the total 140 countries worldwide and second within the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region, based on its ability to respond to change and climate challenges.
The index scores nations according to their performance across three parameters — enterprise, government, people and civil society — and focuses on their preparedness for climate change and ability to address and mitigate associated risks.
Qatar surpassed several other high income countries, including the US, Australia, Canada and Japan.
Ahmed Abu-Sharkh, country senior partner at KPMG in Qatar, said, “It is commendable that Qatar has demonstrated high readiness to respond and adapt to a major change, as evidenced by the 7-place improvement in its ranking in the 2019 Change Readiness Index, where it ranked 12th, up from 19th place in the 2017 report.
“Our 2019 report demonstrates that there are multiple approaches to respond to major change. We will be able to witness the best long term results by the countries where each segment of society — enterprise, government, and people and civil society works in harmony towards a shared outcome."
