City College has signed a memorandum of recognition to officially become an affiliate college of Ulster University.
In a press statement yesterday, City College said it will offer approved franchised programmes from September with flexible study options leading to awards from Ulster University, one of the UK’s top 10 entrepreneurial universities.
Ulster is a globally engaged university, partnering with institutions across the world that share common values and a focus on civic impact.
The first joint programmes between the two institutions will be International Foundation Studies and a final year of Business Studies leading to a BSc (Honours) awarded by Ulster University.
Masters programmes in Management, Marketing and Business Administration will be offered in the “very near future”, the statement noted.
Ulster University Business School is the sixth-largest business school in the UK and has 60,000 alumni working across 120 countries as drivers of economic growth globally.
Welcoming the partnership, pro vice-chancellor of Ulster University Professor Paul Bartholomew said: “Through this partnership with City College, we are able to join together Ulster’s innovative thinking and business education leadership with City College’s regional connections and teaching experience. This new partnership, capitalising on the strengths of each partner’s experience, will lead the shaping of the careers of the business leaders of the future in Doha and beyond.”
Dr Michael Clarke, principal of City College, added: “Our new internationally recognised UK degrees awarded by Ulster University will allow our students to progress to studying the final year of the BSc (Hons) Business Studies from a UK university that is ranked in the top 200 Young Universities by Times Higher Education, 2019.
“The Diploma in International Foundation Studies is recognised by universities in Doha and abroad and allows students to proceed to Year 1 of university. These programmes are approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar.”
