A Kuwaiti delegation visited Hamad International Airport (HIA) on Tuesday to get acquainted with Qatar's experience in security and modern technological means deployed to facilitate the movement of passengers.

The delegation was headed by Major General Mansour Mohamed al-Awadhi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Ports Security Affairs.

The visit comes within the framework of co-ordination, co-operation and exchange of experiences between the two brotherly countries.

The delegation was acquainted with the security system, modern equipment and advanced technologies used by the airport security and passport departments in the inspection, and control to maintain the security and safety of passengers and civil aviation traffic.

The visitors listened to a presentation on the tasks provided by the Airport Passports Department and the technological development adopted for the entry and exit counters of passengers, as well as the electronic gates at the arrivals and departures halls. The delegation viewed a number of sophisticated devices that contribute to enhancing security inside the airport and other ports of Qatar.

Brigadier Issa Arar al-Rumaihi, director of Airport Security Department, said that this visit comes within the framework of exchanging experiences and co-operation in enhancing airport security.

He pointed out that the Kuwaiti delegation was briefed on the modern systems used by the Airport Security Department to maintain the security and safety of passengers and civil aviation traffic.

Brigadier Mohamed Rashid al-Mazrouei, director of Airport Passports Department, said the visit reflects the co-operation and co-ordination between the two ministries of interior in exchanging information and reviewing the modern programmes used to facilitate the entry and exit of passengers.

He added that the Kuwaiti delegation praised the electronic gates and eye scanning systems at HIA, which facilitates entry and entry to/from Qatar as well as procedures for granting visas on arrival, and conduct automatic checking of the passports of travellers in addition to detecting forged documents.

At the end of the visit, Major General al-Awadhi lauded the technological development adopted by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior at HIA for quick completion of the procedures for travellers, including issuing visas on arrival in a few minutes.

The official stressed the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior's keenness to continue co-operation with its counterpart in Qatar at various levels, the most important of which is the security of ports.
