The Ministry of Culture and Sports, represented in a number of youth and girls' centres and cultural committees in sports clubs, has marked the International Youth Day, which falls on 12 August each year.
This year's Word Youth Day is celebrated under the theme "Transforming Education". The ministry today published on its social media pages a short awareness film on this occasion reaffirming that societies are progressing with their youth, and that investing the potential of young people is a guarantee to advance progress.
The film also highlighted Qatar's keen interest in empowering young people and providing them with leadership skills as a basis for preparing a conscious generation capable of working to complete sustainable development.
On the occasion, a number of youth centers organised different activities, including lectures and exhibitions, to mark the day.
It is noteworthy that Qatar is hosting, this year, the Doha Capital of Islamic Youth 2019, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in co-operation with the Islamic Co-operation Forum for Youth, under the supervision of the Qatar Centre for Cultural and Heritage Events.
The event features different activities throughout the year.

This is another testament of Nama’s continuous efforts to provide safe spaces for young people, embrace them, discover their creative abilities, and provide them with the necessary support in various fields.
Hamad al-Marri, acting manager of communication and media office at Nama Centre, said that in line with this year's theme of the International Youth Day, “Transforming Education” adopted by the United Nations, the Nama Centre is attaching great importance to educational and training programmes and workshops.
Al-Marri underlined Nama’s achievements with respect to developing the capacities of young people and capitalising on their abilities. He noted that Nama has been contributing since 2017 in the empowerment of young people in Qatar through a number of successful programmes to prepare the youth and maintain the development process.
The activities and campaigns organised by Nama include the “Reyada” Award, that targets Qatari entrepreneurs of small and micro enterprises.
The "Sama Nama" programme for the development of social entrepreneurs aims to develop the abilities of young people and invest their energies through a variety of activities that have been carefully chosen to suit their needs and motivate them to compete positively.
