The Specialised Master’s Degree in Strategic Business Unit Management (SBUM) by HEC Paris in Qatar, helps hone the skills of the participants and provide a competitive advantage for achieving senior management positions.
“The programme is broadening my experience and giving me enhanced confidence to cope with fast-moving market diversification," Mubarak al-Thani, SBUM participant for 2019-2020 told Gulf Times.
"It would meet my needs and fully prepare me to hold senior management positions in what are transformative and challenging times,” he explained.
An employee at Ooredoo for the last 10 years, Mubarak currently holds the role of account manager for the government sector. He is responsible for building strong relationships between Ooredoo and Qatar’s ministries.
“I have realised that today’s fast pace of business development and growth demands well-trained managers who are educated to drive organisations towards their strategic goals. This motivated me to seek out appropriate post-graduate education and after exploring the course in detail, I became convinced that SBUM would meet my needs,” pointed out Mubarak.
“The programme supports my professional ambitions both as an account manager and a businessman and helps developing my leadership and management skills. What really helps is the way the programme develops a participant’s personal confidence in coping and responding positively to change. This is essential as change seems now to be a permanent aspect of business and its operational requirements,” continued Mubarak.
The programme comprises three stages, starting with the core curriculum focused on Strategy, Finance, and Leadership and Change. Participants will also personalise their learning journey further with a choice of one of three tracks: General Management, Marketing & Sales, and Entrepreneurship & Business Development.
“I have chosen to specialise in Marketing & Sales – two areas which are being increasingly impacted by digital transformation. They are fast-paced and rapidly evolving sectors and those choosing to work within them need to really keep on top of their game and all the latest development channels if they are to succeed in their careers. This programme ensures participants stay at the cutting-edge of new sector approaches and enables them to be prepared for new technology applications,” he highlighted.
Keen on pursuing more educational opportunities, Mubarak says that the programme will open up a world of opportunities for him both professionally and as an entrepreneur.
“ I am now a complete believer in the need for lifelong learning – given the pace of change today in both business and society in general and the way we live, the way we market and sell to our target audiences is transforming and will continue to do so. We have to continue to learn to remain relevant these days and capable of contributing to both our own and the nation’s success,” he added.
