The summer centres at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education concluded their activities on Wednesday.

The programme was organised for more than three weeks in 14 centres, including 7 for boys and the same for girls, taking into account the geographical distribution of the regions of the country, so those centres are close to the accommodation of participating students.

HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the various activities of these centres were organised by the ministry in co-operation with the Ministry of Culture and Sports and in partnership with Ibtikar Technology Solutions.

The programme achieved its objectives and enabled the participants to gain a variety of skills in the areas covered by the events. It witnessed a large turnout of students and their parents, especially as the programme this year integrated several topics such as scientific, sports, cultural, recreational, artistic, community and technology, in a suitable environment, attractive and competitive for the children, away from the home atmosphere and stresses of the school, with the full support of trainers and supervisors.

The official explained that the next version of the summer activities will improve upon previous ones, as the centres attract large numbers of students, including those with special needs, for whom the ministry allocated two centres this summer, and prepared and equipped in co-operation with the Mada, Qatar Assistive Technology Centre under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

Meanwhile, Adviser to the Minister of Culture and Sports Abdulrahman al-Dosari told QNA that the partnership between the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in organising the activity of summer centres this year in the framework of integration and co-operation between different sectors of the state.

Al-Dosari pointed out that the Ministry of Culture and Sports aims to achieve its vision of a conscious community of the importance of health, pointing out that the various programmes have integrated science, culture and sports and have witnesses high participation.

Al-Dosari said that the Ministry of Culture and Sports always seeks to invest in the emerging generations and provide all support to them.

HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher delivered a speech at the beginning of the summer activities, praising the role of developing and refining the skills of the participating students and the role of partners and parents in their success.

Head of Programmes and Activities at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Fatima Yousef al-Obaidli delivered a speech at the ceremony, in which she noted the ministry's continuous role in developing students' abilities, enhancing their talents in a way that motivates them to serve themselves and their community positively.

On the occasion, the directors of the boys' centres were honoured.

The closing ceremony of the summer activities of the girls' centres will be held today.

Around 5,800 Qatari students, residents of public schools, and private school students from 6 to 18 years of age participated in the summer centres to invest their free time and engage in activities that benefit them.
