Dr Yassin Aktay, adviser to the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has affirmed that the Qatari-Turkish relations are an exemplary Islamic example, saying that Qatar is the strongest ally of his country.
In an interview with the Qatari newspaper Arrayah conducted in Jordan and published here Saturday, Aktay said that Qatar stood with Turkey during the failed coup years ago, and that Ankara now stands with Doha in response to its supportive stance, which it had shown previously, pointing out that there are large Turkish investment opportunities waiting for Qatari investors to further strengthen economic and trade co-operation between the two brotherly countries.
"We view our relations with the State of Qatar as an exemplary Islamic example, based on the sincerity of positions," he said, adding that it is in the interest of the two brotherly countries and their peoples, and we materialised our orientations into consultation, co-ordination and co-operation.
"It is known that the State of Qatar stood with Turkey during the failed coup attempt three years ago, and was the best support for us, and we in Turkey when we stand with Qatar under the blockade we respond the same to Qatar's supportive stance, and it has principled positions consistent with Turkey's principles and policies," he said noting that Ankara "is proud to be a strong ally of Doha, and that it is the best friend."
He also pointed out that the Turkish authorities will facilitate Qatari investors to invest in the country, and will give them preference in many things in recognition of their bilateral relations with Qatar.
As for the unjust blockade being imposed on Qatar for more than two years, Dr Yassin Aktay said Qatar had proved that it is capable of rapid transformation with minimal losses and managed to turn the siege from potential disaster to momentum and progress and prosperity and is now witnessing development in all fields by changing its desert into green gardens that produce vegetables and fruits, which brought it closer to the point of self-sufficiency, in the sense that it has come out of the bottleneck, and put opponents in their place.
He added: "Another phenomenon is that the Qatari people have supported their leadership, and this leadership has not failed their people by not placing them in the circle of suffering, not like leaderships of the four blockading countries whose people are suffering from their clumsy policies".
The blockading countries wanted to choke Qatar by siege, but Qatar came out as a giant and responded strongly, he added.
The Turkish president's adviser highlighted the remarkable development in the economic relations between Qatar and Turkey after the integration of political relations, indicating that the Qatari investment in Turkey will see expansion in the future, based on the strong and solid political alliance that proved its worth and success and that the military relations will be strengthened to give power to both parties, he added.
On Turkey's acquisition of the Russian S-400 missile system, Dr Aktay stressed that the Turkish authorities believe that it has the right to defend itself and it had ordered Patriot missiles from the United States, but when it refused to sell them, Ankara then had three alternatives for purchasing missiles from France, China and Russia.
He added that after discussions, Turkey considered that the Russian option is appropriate because of the cheap price and the authority to contribute to production.
"We do not reveal a secret when we say that we will start joint production in 2023. This is a right not given to us by the United States, and in the end we are looking for our interests ", he said.
