The all-new 2019 Maserati Quattroporte “brings cutting-edge technologies and Italian beauty to the luxury sports sedan arena”.
“For the model year 2019, the all-new Quattroporte gained a handful of exterior and interior refinements - all making it look more luxurious, athletic and appealing than ever. Undoubtedly, it is the world’s only super-sedan,” a statement notes.
Billed as the “world’s first luxury sports sedan”, Maserati unveiled the first-generation Quattroporte in 1963. Fast forward fifty-six years later, and the luxury sports sedan “still blends sensational Italian styling and handcrafted finishes with thrilling handling and supreme performance”.
The current, sixth-generation Quattroporte arrived in 2013 - marking “a significant improvement” over the previous generations. The current Quattroporte’s styling closely echoes that of the GranTurismo’s, and the sporty interior has received updated materials and innovative technologies.
Better yet, Maserati dropped the naturally-aspirated, 4.7-litre V-8 engine in favour of a turbocharged, 3.8-litre unit. The luxury Italian brand also added a 3.0-litre V-6 engine to the Quattroporte line-up models.
Visually, the latest Quattroporte “blends sensational Italian beauty with sporty and aggressive touches”. The 2019 Quattroporte is available in four trim levels: the standard’Quattroporte, the more luxurious GranLusso, the sportier GranSport and, finally, the top-of-the-line GranSport GTS.
In all variants, customers can expect to find a new front bumper, a revised grille, larger side vents and stylish chrome strips. The GranLusso trim level adds chrome-trimmed bumper inserts, body-coloured lower front bumper elements, a body-coloured rear spoiler and 20-inch wheels.
Among the key exterior features of the sportier GranSport and GranSport GTS trims are a restyled rear bumper with black accents above the quad exhausts, Piano Black spoiler, 21-inch wheels with red brake calipers, and blue detailing on the front ‘Trident’ badge.
Aside from the full-LED adaptive headlights, the front grille in all trim levels features an electrically adjustable Air Shutter. It optimises control of fluid temperature and reduces drag by up to 10%.
Inside the cabin, the all-new Quattroporte displays a handful of styling changes, including an elegant dashboard. It’s dominated by a new 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen display compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Aside from easy-to-spot high-quality materials, the redesigned centre console now has a clean design. The new layout reduces the number of physical buttons to a minimum.
As far as the technology goes, the latest Quattroporte gained a unique feature: an Air Quality Sensor. This feature combines an intelligent sensor and a signal analysis system to calculate the external pollution levels and prevent unwanted gases from sneaking into the cabin.
Depending on the grade, drivers of the luxury sports sedan can also enjoy extra premium features.
The latest Quattroporte comes with two engine options. Maserati equips its basic Quattroporte model with a twin-turbo, 3.0-litre V-6 engine. It produces 350hp and 500Nm of torque. Hooked to the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, the six-cylinder unit enables the sports sedan to go from zero to 100km/h in 5.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 270km/h.
The same 3.0-litre V-6 engine can be found in the Quattroporte S, but it is chugging out 430hp and 580Nm of torque. Similarly, the engine is mated with the ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox. This unit allows the luxury car to go from zero to 100km/h in 5 seconds, before maxing out at 288km/h.
The only difference between the Quattroporte S and Quattroporte S Q4 models lies in the all-wheel-drive system installed on the latter.
One can also opt for a top-of-the-range Quattroporte GTS powered by a twin-turbo, 3.8-litre V-8 engine. This high-performance variant produces 530hp and 710Nm of torque.
The powertrain allows the super-sedan to go from zero to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 310km/h. This makes Quattroporte GTS “one of the fastest sedans on the market”, the statement points out.
On the safety front, the flagship sedan offers a range of driving assistance features such as Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Highway Assist System, Blind Spot Alert, Forward Collision Warning Plus, and Surround View Camera, to name a few.
Drivers preferring increased efficiency can choose the I.C.E Mode. This setup produces smoother throttle and gearshifts while keeping engine speeds low to reduce fuel consumption.
