The Qatar Chamber on Thursday held a meeting with an Indian trade delegation chaired by Anmol Modi, who is the head of the Fibernet Goa Exhibition.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral co-operation in the field of information technology, solar energy, mining, food products, basic materials, among others.
First vice-chairman of Qatar Chamber, Mohammed bin Tawar al-Kuwari said Qatar and India have enjoyed strong bilateral ties, which helped their trade volume jump 24% last year to reach $12.1bn.
He noted, in a speech at Thursday's meeting, that there are 41 fully-owned Indian companies operating in Qatar, in addition to 11,000 Qatari-Indian joint ventures.
He expressed confidence there will be many opportunities for Qatari and Indian businessmen to further enhance their bilateral co-operation in many fields.
He added that the Chamber encourages companies from both countries to enter into partnerships that benefit both economies.
For his part, Modi said there is a strong desire to enhance mutual co-operation in the trade and investment fields.
He invited Qatari companies to take part in Fibernet Goa expo scheduled to take place on October 17-19.
He noted that 5.5mn tourists visit Goa every year.
