A Qatari technical delegation held a meeting Monday with the parties concerned with the electricity crisis in the Gaza Strip, represented by the Palestinian energy authority and electricity distribution company.

During the meeting, the Qatari delegation was briefed on the situation of the electricity sector, the quantities available and the solutions to end the crisis.

The visit of the Qatari delegation aimed to determine the nature of the situation in Gaza and study the technical issues in the electricity sector, especially project (161), which is one of the most prominent projects to solve the electricity crisis.

The electricity distribution company in Gaza pointed out that the Qatari efforts come in the framework of joint efforts to find quick solutions to the electricity crisis and supply the sector with an additional quantity of electricity. The additional quantity is estimated at 100 MW, which represents a quantum leap for the sector and will affect positively on the economic situation in Gaza.

The company thanked the State of Qatar for its efforts to solve the electricity crisis in Gaza, as well as for all stakeholders in finding solutions to the crisis that affected all sectors.

Also, post offices in the Gaza Strip began today to distribute cash assistance provided by the State of Qatar to 100,000 families at USD 100 per family.
