An array of live shows, educational entertainment (edutainment), sports events, and summer camps across the country will mark the second week of Summer in Qatar (SiQ) programme, Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has announced. One of India’s leading stand-up comedians, Zakir Khan, will take the centre stage during the Doha Comedy Night tomorrow (June 13/Thursday) at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
Khan, also a writer, presenter and actor born and raised in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, became famous when he bagged the third best stand-up comedian contest dubbed as ‘Comedy Central’ in India. He has more than 3mn subscribers on YouTube. Khan’s one-day performance will start at 8pm and ticket prices start at QR50, available through https://www.q-tickets.com.
Families and children will have the chance to watch Star Wars Roaming Act at participating malls from tomorrow (June 13/Thursday) to June 15 to entertain mall-goers between 4pm and 10pm.  Those who are fans of popular cartoon characters Tom and Jerry can catch the duo at Mall of Qatar (MoQ), Doha Festival City (DHFC), Lagoona Mall, Gulf Mall, Landmark Mall, Al Khor Mall, Hyatt Plaza Mall, Al Mirqab Mall, Tawar Mall from (June 13/Thursday) to June 19 for free, also between 4pm and 10pm.
Meanwhile, Tawar Mall will host indoor sports activities for families and children dubbed as Sports Mania from tomorrow (June 13/Thursday) to June 14 (2pm to 10pm) while MoQ will have a unique Balloon Drop show on June 15 at 7.30pm. Al Mirqab Mall will feature ‘Fitness Fridays’, also from June 14 and extends until August 8, and the ‘The Human Body Exploratorium Tour’, an edutainment event, from June 14 to July 19 (4pm to 9pm).
DHFC will set up a live screening of the Copa America matches and pre-match shows from June 14 to July 7. It will also give mall-goers an opportunity to ‘meet and greet’ Angry Birds roaming characters on June 15 from 2pm. Cricket fans and enthusiasts can watch the ‘Doha Workers Cricket Cup’ at the Mesaieed Stadium every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from June 13 to July 31 (8pm to 12midnight).
According to QNTC, other activities with fees such as summer camps will be held at ACS Doha International School from June 16 to August 8 (8am to 1pm); Qatar Foundation’s Recreation Centre from June 16 to August 8 (7.30am to 2pm); and Education City (until August 17).
Some SiQ activities, which started early June, are still underway such as the ‘Name of Allah’ and ‘Line’ exhibitions, being held at the Katara – the Cultural Village (10am to 10pm) and conclude on June 28.
The Entertainment City at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre will continue to provide a variety of Virtual Reality and video games, as well as several entertainment options for different age groups, from 12.30pm to 10pm except Fridays (1.30pm to 11pm), until July 13.
Regular entry at the City is QR15. Both Gold Pass and Gaming Pass cost QR150 while Season Pass is pegged at QR999, and the Gaming Season Pass costs QR1,250.
