The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced closure of the Immigration Bridge at Al Gharafa in the direction from North to South for one month. The closure is to allow the emergency maintenance work.

Ashghal, through a statement, has requested the motorists coming from north towards south of Doha to make use of the temporary traffic diversion on Al Gharafa interchange (Immigration interchange) or to use Sabah Al Ahmed Corridor or Al Jamaa Street as alternate routes.

Road users coming from Dukhan Road towards Khalifa Street (Al Markhiya) should use the Immigration Tunnel. Al Luqta residents, who are approaching east, can use Makkah Al Mokarama street and Omar bin Al Khattab tunnel as an alternative of Al Gharafa interchange (Immigration interchange) to avoid the temporary traffic diversion.

Madinat Khalifa North residents can use the bridge connecting Madinat Khalifa North with Al Ittihad Street if they approach Gharafa in order to avoid the traffic congestion which may be experienced at Al Gharrafa interchange.

Ashghal has also assured the structure of the bridge is safe and confirmed that the maintenance is limited to filling works and asphalt sub-base only.

Road signs advising motorists of the traffic change have been installed. Ashghal has requested road users to abide by the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure safety.
