Since the Gulf crisis started with the blockade of Qatar on June 5, 2017, rarely a day has passed without the media in the siege countries insulting the symbols of Qatar.
However the Qatari media, particularly the official Qatari social media accounts, have always maintained decorum in the face of severe provocations.
Addressing the nation in July 2017, about a month after the unjust blockade was imposed on Qatar by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani appreciated the high moral standard exercised by the people of the country despite the campaign of incitement as well as the siege.
"They combined the solidity of stance and magnanimity of behaviour that has always characterised the Qatari people. They have amazed the world by maintaining a high level of tenacity in tackling the situation, despite the unprecedented incitement in tone and language, the honour-related prejudices, and the unparalleled blockade in the relations between our countries," His Highness the Amir said.
The Amir said this was tantamount to a true moral test "where our society has achieved great success, as we have proved that there are basic principles and norms that we observe even in times of conflict and dispute, because we respect ourselves first and foremost". He called upon all to continue this approach, and not slip into "what is inappropriate for us, nor for our principles and our values".
Irrespective of this noble behaviour from Qatar, high-ranking officials like Saud al-Qahtani, adviser at Saudi Royal Court, continued to tweet abusive and insulting messages.
The media in the blockading countries did not even spare women but tried to defame and slander them by spreading completely unfounded rumours and accusing them of various 'imaginary' actions.
All these accusations and insinuations not only failed to achieve any of their evil intentions, they also caused the entire world to see the real face of the blockading countries.
The world was also amazed to see the outpouring of genuine love, support and affection of the entire residents of Qatar for His Highness the Amir. The people of Qatar stood firmly behind the government of the country and its leadership. Even the attempts to play the tribal cards were summarily defeated by the enlightened people of Qatar.
As is now evident, the blockade was mainly aimed at weakening Qatar and undermine its independence and sovereignty, creating divisions among its people and make it a submissive follower of others.
This has been further ascertained through the various moves of the blockading countries ,including the utterances of Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubair and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash. They have visited countries around the world to belittle Qatar's cause and incite world opinion against it to justify the unjust blockade.
However, only the opposite took place with Qatar's position getting stronger due to the great efforts exerted by the government to explain the situation to the world . The extensive efforts undertaken by Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, in this regard deserve special mention.
The siege countries attempted yet another move by hosting some Qatari persons, claiming that they would 'save' the country and gave them voice through their media. Eventually it turned out that these people were only paid puppets to stage the desired show of the blockading countries.
In the meantime, Qatar has been true to its ethical principles, and never hosted any opposition personalities of the blockading countries or 'organised' any conference or forum against their regimes, as Doha upholds the values of non-interference in the internal affairs of others.
Throughout the period of the crisis, Qatar has insisted on enforcing the rule of law and prevent the violations of human rights.
