*Memorable Eid in store for residents and visitors with a host of events and activities across the country

A number of entertainment shows and new attractions will be open to public from the first day of Eid al-Fitr to mark the start of the biggest ‘Summer in Qatar’ programme, Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has announced.

“This year’s entertainment offerings are geared towards families, with children’s shows and movie premieres, as well as concerts and sports,” Mashal Shahbik from QNTC said.

“With more than 30 public and private sector partners offering a range of exciting promotions and activities, we are excited to make Qatar an attractive destination for Eid holidays,” she explained.

Shahbik noted that the summer festivities, which this year include both Eid holidays, form a key part of QNTC’s strategy to energise the tourism sector through diversifying Qatar’s events calendar.

Among the newest summer attractions this year, are three unique indoor theme parks operated by Trimoo Parks and located inside Doha Festival City (DHFC).The first ever Angry Birds World theme park has launched its new outdoor area.

Snow Dunes – the country’s first indoor snow park with a cutting-edge snow-making system, is also expected to open this summer.

Virtuocity – a gaming and eSports venue spanning over 4,500sqm will host a FIFA E-Sports Cup in partnership with PSG.

Entertainment City, a family favourite and spread out over the expansive ground floor of the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, returns on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.

The City offers fun for all ages, including bouncy castles, mini-golf course, exciting rides, skill games, video games, as well as live entertainment shows, food, beverage and shopping options.

It will be open daily from 12.30pm to 10pm and from 1.30pm to 1am on Fridays.

An individual entry ticket costs QR15 with day passes and season passes ranging between QR150 and QR1,250.

Individual game prices range from QR10 to QR35.

Adding to the season’s festivities will be the vibrant Eid celebrations at Katara – the Cultural Village, Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah.

These will include cultural performances, musical acts and family shows with a special fireworks display at Katara.

From the first to the fifth day of Eid al-Fitr, all participating malls will put on free entertainment shows and a special meet and greet session with Captain Marvel and Hulk.

Lagoona Mall will have a special show ‘Aladdin’, at 5pm.

Woody and Buzz Lightyear fans can enjoy Toy Story 4, premiering this Eid.

The nine malls participating in this year’s summer fun include: DHFC, Mall of Qatar, Lagoona Mall, Landmark Mall, Gulf Mall, Tawar Mall, Al Khor Mall, Hyatt Plaza, and Al Mirqab Mall.

Starting June 4, retailers at these malls will be offering up to 70% discounts and special promotions.

For every QR200 spent at any of the participating outlets in these malls, shoppers can be part of the three raffle draws being held throughout the summer.

Prizes include cash and cars worth up to QR2mn, with a grand prize of McLaren Spider 570s (2018 model).Qatar Museum’s Culture Pass Plus and Culture Pass Family offers benefits such as exclusive discounts on tourism products, outdoor, mall and retail activities, family entertainment as well as a variety of calligraphy classes and colouring classes throughout the season.

This will be available at the National Museum of Qatar, The Museum of Islamic Arts or at the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art.

A wide range of hotels and hotel apartments will offer discounts of up to 25%, valid for stays between June 4 and August 16, along with several additional incentives and promotions at facilities.

Participating hotel groups include Katara Hospitality, Al Rayyan Hospitality hotels and Marriott International hotels in Qatar.

Qatar Airways will offer a discount of 25% on all flights to Doha from more than 160 destinations worldwide, for travel to Qatar anytime between May 30 and August 16.

Moreover, Al Maha Services, Qatar Airways’ personalised meet and assist service, is also offering up to 25% discount on all their services during the summer.

Qatar Airways’ long-haul passengers can also take advantage of the stopover package, in partnership with QNTC, designed to give travellers transiting through Qatar the opportunity to discover the country with free luxury hotel stays and complimentary transit visas.
