Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, organised a conference on "Family and Diabetes" in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).

The conference, held at Qatar National Convention Center and attended by 250 doctors and healthcare providers in Qatar, presented the latest updates on family health and diabetes.

The conference tackled several topics including the latest updates in diabetes management, family and diabetes between theory and practice, the importance of educating the family rather than focusing on the patient and the positive and negative participation of the family in supporting the person diagnosed with diabetes as well as a lecture about the role of the doctor in educating the family, and the family mental health and stress management.

Dr Abdullah al-Hamaq, executive director, QDA, said that the conference aimed at raising awareness about the impact of diabetes on the family and enhancing its role in the management of diabetes, care, prevention and education, pointing out that families need to live in an environment that supports healthy lifestyles.
