HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation (QF), on Sunday attended the opening ceremony of the Education Forum on Heritage and Identity at Katara Cultural Village. 
The forum, which concludes Monday, has been organised by The Education Development Institute (EDI), part of QF’s Pre-University Education (PUE), in co-operation with the Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science – under the Ministry of Education and Higher Education – the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The opening remarks were delivered by HE the Minister of State Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz al-Kuwari on the importance of heritage and identity, followed by an introductory speech on national identity by Dr Jassim Sultan, director of Wijdan Cultural Center. The opening ceremony was also attended by Buthaina Ali al-Nuaimi, president, PUE, QF; Abeer al-Khalifa, executive director, Academic Affairs, PUE, QF; Sheikha Noof al-Thani, executive director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships, PUE, QF; and Mehdi Benchaabane, director, EDI, PUE, QF. 
The students of QF schools also performed a traditional operetta entitled My Heritage is My Identity, which was organised by Sara al-Hajri, head of Qatar History and Heritage at EDI, and composed and directed by Faisal al-Tamimi. The forum features a number of activities that center around the National Programme subjects, as well as a series of sessions and discussions led by heritage experts. Topics include ‘The Role of Heritage in Promoting Identity’ and ‘Preserving Heritage’.
