Thundershowers are expected in some places in the country Sunday, the Qatar Met department has said.
The weather office has also issued a marine warning for thundery rain, strong winds and high seas Sunday.
Earlier, the Met department had said that rain, dust and a drop in temperature are likely in the country in the coming days.
In a report on Friday, the department said weather charts indicated the influence of a low-pressure system over the region. The cloud amount is expected to increase gradually and there is a chance of intermittent scattered rain – mostly light to moderate – until the beginning of Tuesday, April 23.
The rain may turn thundery at times, accompanied by strong winds and causing rising dust in some areas.
Temperatures are expected to drop by about 10C and return to the April averages, ending the recent heat spell, in response to the wind direction shifting to northwesterly from Monday evening until Thursday, April 25, the report states.
The winds will be fresh to strong in intensity, exceeding 28 knots at times and resulting in rising dust and low visibility of below 2km in some areas, while the wave height will go beyond 12ft occasionally.
The Met department has urged people to be cautious, avoid going to sea and follow the latest updates through its official social media accounts.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s detailed forecast says winds will blow at speeds of 8-18 knots, going up to 25 knots in some inshore areas and 30 knots offshore during rain and thunder, with the sea level rising to 9ft.
Scattered clouds are expected inshore along with a chance of rain, which may become thundery at times. Slight dust is also likely in some places.
Offshore, cloudy conditions will prevail and there is a possibility of scattered rain, which too may turn thundery occasionally.
The maximum temperature is expected to range from 28C in Dukhan and Ruwais to 34C in Doha and Abu Samra, while the minimum will be 22C in Al Khor, 23C in Dukhan and 26C in Doha.
On Saturday, the maximum temperature was 39C in Sheehaniya, Abu Hamour and other places, 38C in Jumayliyah and Karana, and 32C in Doha. The minimum was 22C in Al Khor and other places, 23C in Sheehaniya and Batna, and 25C in Doha.
