HE Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani participated in the third meeting of the Olympic Refuge Foundation executive office, which was held on Monday in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The meeting was chaired by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Dr Thomas Bach, who is also Chair of the Olympic Refuge Foundation. The meeting was attended by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, who is also vice chair of the foundation, and other top officials.
During the meeting they reviewed the ongoing projects in a number of refugee camps which is organised by the foundation, in co-operation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and different organisations and partners of the Olympic movement. They also reviewed future projects which aim to support refugees through providing sports facilities and activities and developing required establishments for refugees to play sports around the world.
