The Qatar Met department has said unsettled weather conditions are likely to return, affecting the country from Sunday evening until the weekend due to the extension of a low-pressure system over the region.

The skies are expected to become cloudy at times, especially in the evening and at night, and there is a chance of scattered rain of variable intensity – which may be thundery at times.

These conditions will be accompanied by sudden strong winds exceeding 25 knots in some areas, the report states. This, in turn, may cause rising dust and low visibility occasionally.

The Met department stressed that this time of the year - a season locally known as Al Sarayat - is known for fast weather changes.

In view of the expected conditions, the department has urged people to be cautious, avoid going to sea and follow the latest updates through its official social media accounts.

Meanwhile, today’s forecast says thundery rain and sudden strong winds are expected in the country by tonight. Thundershowers, windy conditions and high seas are also likely offshore.

The wind speed may go up to 27 knots during thundery rain in both inshore and offshore areas, with the sea level rising to 10ft.

Mild daytime conditions are expected on Sunday, and it will get cloudy later. There is a chance of scattered rain from the evening, which may turn thundery at times.
