The Cabinet has approved a draft law regulating the partnership between the public and private sectors in the country. 
The decision was taken at the Cabinet's regular meeting in Doha Wednesday.
Partnerships between the government and the private sector shall be made under a contract in accordance with the provisions of this law, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reports.
The partnership shall be in line with one of the following regulations: 1- Allocation of land on the basis of a rental lease or a licence to use the property, for development by the private sector; 2 - Build-operate-transfer (BOT); 3- Build-transfer-operate (BTO); 4- Build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT); 5- Operations and Maintenance (OM); 6- Any other form adopted by the Prime Minister, upon the proposal of the competent minister.
The government or the competent administration may, on its own initiative or at the suggestion of the private sector, identify a project for its implementation through partnership.
After HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani chaired the Cabinet meeting at the Amiri Diwan yesterday, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi said the Cabinet also approved a draft law amending some provisions of Law No 32 of 1995 on the prevention of damage to the plant environment and its components.
The amendments "come within the framework of modernising legislation to address the problems created by practical realities in this area, and to tighten the penalties for violating the provisions of the law, QNA adds.
