The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a traffic diversion at Al Shehaimiya Intersection on Mesaimeer Road, starting from Thursday midnight.

The diversion will be in place for a year and is being undertaken to facilitate the upgrade of Mesaimeer Road, which is part of Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor Project, Ashghal has said in a statement.

During this period, traffic coming from Al Shehaimiya Street and heading towards Abu Hamour or turning left to Mesaimeer Interchange will be closed, as shown on the map.

Road users will be required to take the right exit at Al Sheehemiya Intersection and continue straight onto Heenat Al Meashab Intersection, and make a U-turn to Abu Hamour Street or Mesaimeer Interchange, the statement explains.

The diversion is being implemented in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

The authority will instal road signs advising motorists of the traffic change. It has requested all road users to abide the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
