The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a temporary closure of the Al Waab signal-controlled intersection in all directions on the main carriageway.
Designed in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, the closure will be implemented for 12 hours - from midnight today until noon tomorrow. The free-flow right turn lanes will remain operational, Ashghal has said in a statement.
The closure is required to facilitate completion of a temporary signal-controlled roundabout, the statement notes.
During this period, road users travelling through or turning left on Al Waab Street from any direction can utilise the free-flow right turns and make a U-turn at the next available junction.
The authority will instal road signs advising motorists of the traffic shift and has requested all road users to abide by the 50kmph speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
