Qatar Petroleum and Schlumberger signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration in working towards the objectives of Tawteen to enhance localisation in the energy sector.
The MoU was signed by Khalid al-Rumaihi, executive VP (Subsurface Development & Exploration) at Qatar Petroleum, and Amit Singh, managing director, Schlumberger Qatar, at the launch event for Tawteen localisation programme.
The Tawteen programme aims to enhance resilience in the energy sector and create investment opportunities. It also introduced the In-country-Value (ICV) policy which focuses on maximising local content as well as encouraging development of local talent.
The MoU promotes the creation of jobs and enables development opportunities for Qatari nationals and residents in oil and gas services. It also strengthens the deployment of Schlumberger technology, reduces regional delivery times for key products and services, and increases local capacity and deployment capabilities. The MoU provides training and development opportunities for Qatar Petroleum employees through secondment and by providing access to its wide network of global training centres.
“Schlumberger has recently celebrated 70 years of continued presence in Qatar and has supported the oil and gas industry through a commitment to train and develop Qatari talent, and local supply base. Our extensive portfolio of technologies and execution of integrated projects will continue to drive our partnership with Qatar Petroleum,” Singh said.
