The Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani Wednesday welcomed the outcome of the Asian tour of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani from January 27 to 31. The tour included an official visits to South Korea, Japan, and China.
Following Wednesday's meeting, which was held at the Amiri Diwan, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi stated the following:
The cabinet stressed that the positive outcome of these visits at all levels have formed great momentum in the course of the relations of Qatar with these friendly countries, propelling them to a new stage, which was reflected in the successful talks the Amir held with the leaders of the three countries and its ranking officials.
The cabinet said that the talks were characterised by a sense of friendship and a mutual commitment to enhancing the strategic partnership in all fields.
Thus was reflected in the number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed with the goal of advancing mutual interests and enhancing peace and stability in the region and all over the world.
The cabinet hailed the historic achievement of Qatar's national football team after they won the 2019 Asian Cup, especially the strong performances they showed and their sportsmanship.
The cabinet expressed their pride with the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, who adopted the right plan and vision for all ministers and State institutions, leading to the national team's success at the AFC Asian Cup.
The cabinet also expressed their appreciation of the efforts of all the administrative and coaching staff of the national team for the role they played in the win, wishing them further success in the future.
The cabinet then reviewed topics on its meeting's agenda as follows:
The cabinet first agreed to take the appropriate measures to issue a law regulating the purchase and ownership of animals and dangerous species, after it studied the Advisory Council's recommendations regarding the draft law.
The new law will ban the purchase or dealings in animals or dangerous species unless a permit from the designated authority is obtained.
The law also prohibits taking those animals to any public spaces.
Owners of such animals must also take the measures stated in the minister's decision to ensure their animals do not get away.
The second subject was the cabinet's approval to amend a number of provisions of cabinet decision No 3 of 2017 regarding the adopted system for equation of foreign certificates.
The third topic was the approval to amend some provisions of cabinet decision No 34 for 2011 on restructuring the national committee for coordinating affairs related to the World Trade Organisation.
The restructuring will see a representative from the office of HE the Prime Minister join the committee.
The fourth subject saw the cabinet approve a draft executive programme in the education field between the governments of Qatar and Jordan for academic years 2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021.
The fifth topic saw the cabinet review two subjects and take appropriate decision on them.
The first subject was the recommendation made by the Advisory Council to discuss the judicial police powers, and the views of the public prosecution in that regard.
The second topic was discussing the cybersecurity committee's annual report.
The committee aims to enhance cybersecurity in order to achieve comprehensive development in all fields.
They do that by directing the national efforts towards realising the goals of the cybersecurity strategy.
HE Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs made a presentation on the role of judicial bodies in engaging and following up with cases against or raised by governmental bodies.
He explained the achievements made over the past few years in that regard, in addition to the challenges they face and the means to resolve them.
