HE the Speaker of the Shura (Advisory) Council, Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud, met Friday with the president of Asia-Pacific Group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and the speaker of the Micronesia Parliament, Wesley Simina, and his delegation.
The meeting discussed relations between the Advisory Council and IPU's Asia-Pacific Group, and means of supporting and developing them in various areas of parliamentary work.
The ongoing arrangements for the 140th IPU ordinary General Assembly meetings and associated meetings to be hosted by Qatar from April 6 to 10, were also reviewed.
Simina expressed his great satisfaction over the keen interest exhibited by the Advisory Council Speaker and the Council's officials in following up arrangements, which are carried out in a manner that guarantees the provision of all requirements for holding a successful and productive IPU session.
The meeting was attended by a number of the Advisory Council members and officials.
