United Development Company (UDC), one of the leading Qatari public shareholding companies and the master developer of The Pearl-Qatar and Gewan Islands, is attracting an increasing number of visitors, as evidenced by the year-on-year increase in the number of vehicles entering The Pearl-Qatar.
Over 13mn vehicles have entered The Pearl-Qatar Island during 2018, a 17% increase from around 11mn in 2017, according to a statement issued yesterday.
The number of vehicles is tracked through technologically-advanced monitoring devices installed at the entrance of The Pearl-Qatar Island. The devices registered an increase of 156,712 in the monthly average of vehicles compared to last year. These include visitors, tourists, business owners and employees.
In December 2018, the daily average of cars entering The Pearl-Qatar Island peaked at 38,778. Thus, the Island welcomed a total of 1,202,114 vehicles over the entire month, representing a 16% increase compared to December 2017.
The number of vehicles entering the island rose 20% in December 2017 compared to the same period of 2016, reflecting the island’s success, year after year, in cementing its position as leisure and business hub.
The annual increase in the number of vehicles reflects The Pearl-Qatar’s attractiveness as a one-stop destination for entertainment, shopping, dining and luxurious living, with the regular opening of new retail outlets that offer an eclectic mix of top brands to the island’s residents and visitors, the statement added.
