Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) has organised inter-school debate competition on interfaith values for Indian schools in Qatar.
This comes as part of DICID’s diverse and continuous initiatives to promote the culture of interfaith dialogue among students.
The debate contest was held as part of 23rd inter-school competition organised by Youth Forum on the topic “What constructs a stable society – Religious-cultural values or personal rights?”
DICID organises such competitions with the intention of spreading the significance of religious values and promoting creative interfaith dialogues at the early stage of growing generations belonging to different cultures and religions in such a way that results in establishing an attitude of coexistence and tolerance within them.
Chief Guest Yousuf Abdulla al-Subai, Executive Manager, Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), inaugurated the closing ceremony.
He gave away the trophies and certificates to the winners.
During his speech on the occasion, al-Subai congratulated the winners and highlighted the importance of developing the culture of healthy dialogues among the students belonging to various cultural and religious backgrounds promoting mutual respect and creative relationships.
Since DICID started its activities, the centre has been co-operating and supporting local expatriate communities in Qatar to hold activities that reinforce inter-relationships among these communities.
As well, DICID has been organising many dialogue initiatives and seminars for expatriates in Qatar in association with different communities as they play a significant role in promoting the culture of peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others among them, and with Qatar society on the other hand.
Gerrard Dominic, Leaders Trainer in Business Studies Department in College of North-Atlantic Qatar, (CNA-Q), who was the moderator of the competition, stressed the importance of developing the skills of dialogue and debate among students with different affiliations.
