Czech Republic has seen more than 80% rise in the number of visitors from Qatar who find the destination’s diverse range of tourism offerings attractive and appealing. “Travel from Qatar to the Czech Republic continues to be on an upswing and we believe that we are just at the beginning of a further surge in influx from Doha, considering the geographical proximity between both the countries,” Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism’s managing director Monika Palatkova told reporters.
She was speaking at a press conference in the final leg of CzechTourism’s ‘Discover Central Europe Middle East Road Show’ held recently in Doha. The event was attended by Czech Republic ambassador to Kuwait Martin Dvorak, the embassy’s economic and commercial section head Jakub Jaros, and the Union of Glass and Fashion Jewellery Producers president Pavel Kopacek.
The CzechTourism official noted that the steady year-on-year rise in the number of visitors from Qatar will continue in the coming years due to Czech’s robust initiatives aimed at showcasing its unique tourism products and experiences. Reiterating the importance of direct air connectivity between the two countries, Palatkova stressed that Qatar Airway’s two daily direct flights to Prague significantly helped boost the government agency’s efforts to attract more visitors from Doha.

CzechTourism wants to promote and highlight the Central European’s various offerings that suit the taste of families, mature millennials, and luxury-oriented mature travelers from Qatar and the region. Meanwhile, Dvorak lauded the roadshow for its successful meetings and business engagements of the last two days, highlighting the many business opportunities for Czech companies in Qatar.
“We could see at today’s glassmakers’ workshop that the art of Bohemian glass and crystals attract a lot of attention and is being internationally recognised for its high quality, craftsmanship, beauty, and innovative design,” the envoy said.
Dvorak added that Czech companies presented during the roadshow (like MOLS, Modus Bohemia LED Glass, JSB Bijoux, Misamo, Granat Turnov, and SVSB) are all prime examples of how a blend of long tradition, ingenuity, devotion and creativity can produce beautiful and outstanding products that capture people’s imagination.
“I am proud that the Czech embassy in Kuwait, in co-operation with our partners, CzechTourism and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was able to open the door to Czech companies to the many business opportunities that exist in Qatar,” the envoy said.
The roadshow, which featured business-to-business workshops and presentations for travel professionals, and Czech glass producers’ workshop, was aimed at presenting the multifaceted attractions of Czech Republic and portray it as a unique destination.
An exclusive glass and crystal show that highlighted the strong heritage of the Czech Republic as a global leader in this segment was also part of the event.
