Turkey disapproves of US sanctions on Iran, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday, as it throws the world out of balance.

Turkey was one of eight countries that Washington granted temporary waivers to continue importing Iranian oil as it reimposed sanctions on Iran on Monday.
"We disapprove of the US sanctions on Iran. For us, these sanctions are aimed at disrupting the world's balance," Erdogan said in his first comments since the sanctions were reimposed, according to state news agency Anadolu.
"We do not want to live in an imperialist world," Erdogan said in Ankara, characterizing the Iran sanctions as "against international law and diplomacy."
Iran was the top supplier of crude oil to Turkey in 2017, sending 11.5 million tons of crude compared to 6.9 million tons in 2016, according to Turkish energy market regulator EPDK.
