* Talks focus on investment, education, agriculture, food security etc

* President calls on Qatari firms to invest in Nepal


His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani held a session of official talks with Nepal's President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the Amiri Diwan Tuesday afternoon.
The talks discussed ways to enhance and promote bilateral relations in various fields, especially in the areas of investment, education, agriculture, food security and exchange of experiences, especially as Qatar hosts a large number of Nepali workers.
Later, His Highness the Amir and the president witnessed the signing of an agreement and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the governments of Qatar and Nepal.
At the beginning of the talks, the Amir welcomed the president and the accompanying delegation, pointing to the importance of the visit - which will develop and advance co-operation between the two friendly countries in various fields for the interest of their peoples.







On her part, the president expressed her thanks to His Highness the Amir for inviting her to visit Qatar, stressing her confidence that the visit will contribute to promoting friendship and co-operation ties between Nepal and Qatar.
During the talks, the president praised Qatar's efforts to protect the rights of expatriate workers in the country, including Nepali workers, lauding the legislation and measures adopted by Qatar in this regard.
The talks also dealt with a number of issues of common concern.
Following the session of talks, His Highness the Amir and the Nepal president witnessed the signing of an agreement and an MoU between the two governments.
An agreement was signed on the cancellation of visa for holders of diplomatic, private and official passports, while an MoU was inked in the field of agriculture and food security. The MoU aims to support agricultural development and co-operation between the two countries.
The talks and the signing ceremony were attended by a number of ministers.
On the Nepalese side, the talks were attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the president.
Earlier, the president of Nepal arrived at the Amiri Diwan, where she was accorded an official reception ceremony.
Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir Tuesday hosted a luncheon banquet at the Amiri Diwan in honour of President Bhandari and her accompanying delegation.
The banquet was attended by a number of ministers and businessmen.
Also Tuesday, the president called on Qatari investors to take advantage of the promising investment environment in Nepal. She was speaking at a meeting organised by Qatar Chamber.
