The event, showcased 187 cars and made 14 local and regional reveals, received 25000 visitors, including families and car enthusiasts

The 8th edition of Qatar Motor Show (QMS) concluded on Sunday, showcasing a total of 187 cars from different categories and attracting over 25,000 visitors, including families and car enthusiasts at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Dubbed as 'Driving to Innovation', the five-day event saw 14 local and regional vehicle debuts, as well as Mawater Centre’s 87 classical and modified cars, and motorbikes, among others, sponsored by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA).

“QMS has developed significantly this year with a wider scope to include various awareness and artistic campaigns in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the Traffic Department.” QTA’s exhibitions director Ahmed al-Obaidli said in a press statement.


The Alfardan pavillion showcases an array of luxury car brands such as BMW, Range Rover, and Jaguar.

“The participation of Mawater Centre added great value as well. We continue to develop all local events and exhibitions in addition to bringing international events to Qatar to achieve the objectives of the next chapter of the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy,” he added.

Residents and visitors had the opportunity to learn about the latest trends and new reveals in the industry at the motor show, which focused on enriching content and creating a unique experience for car enthusiasts in Qatar.

The event is organised by QTA in co-operation with Fira Qatar partnership of Elan Group and Fira de Barcelona, featured classic, luxury, and executive cars, including Genesis’ concept SUV, from key manufacturers.

QMS 2018 also hosted a total of 37 pavilions, comprising of manufacturers, local dealers, local car accessories shops, special pavilions for QTA in participation with MoI, the Traffic Department, Mowasalat, Qatar Insurance Group and Arab Motors.

QTA noted that this edition is the first since QMS adopted a new strategy aimed at enriching content, focusing on the concepts of innovation and sustainability, while raising the profile of the show on the international calendar of automotive exhibitions.

The event also highlighted the works of two Qatari artists who spray painted graffiti on four broken vehicles displayed at the event, which aims to provide a platform for artists to showcase their creative skills and spreading awareness of the Al Enna project and its aim.

“QMS presented a wide variety of exhibits, events and services, which reflected positively on the overall exhibition's content.

We are grateful for QTA’s trust and for its support to all private sector companies working in the sector,” said Ahmed Almulla, chief operating officer, Entertainment at Elan Events.

“Our participation reinforces our ability to position Qatar as a convenient business events destination,” he added.

Participating brands included BMW, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infiniti, Chevrolet, Maxus, MG, Mitsubishi Motors, Harley-Davidson, Jaguar, Land Rover, Genesis, ZX Auto, Borgward, Universal Motors (Lotus), Crystal Car, Auto Stacker, Kracher, Car Care Centre, Breu, Top Performance, A-1 Automotive, My Tyre, Q-tire, Titanium, Al Jaber Car Care Centre, Four Stroke and Pegasus.

In addition, Alfardan had a special pavilion featuring a range of classic cars and car accessories from Nasser Bin Khaled Group.

QMS, held under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, is one of the leading exhibitions in Qatar, according to QTA.
