HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed bin Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi met his Omani counterpart, Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al-Shibaniyah, and her accompanying delegation, who are currently visiting Qatar to learn about the country's experience in the field of education.

The meeting discussed aspects of co-operation between the two countries in the fields of education, scientific research and ways to support and enhance them.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Omani delegation was briefed on the important strategic projects of the ministry, such as Qatar School of Science and Technology project, the development of national educational curricula, and other projects in the field of education.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh al-Nuaimi attended the meeting, during which education experts at the establishment management team of Qatar School of Science and Technology, Ghada Sultan Lerm and Dalia Abdul Hamid, made a presentation on this specialised governmental school that adopts the STEM integrated curriculum, which teaches science, technology, engineering and mathematics integrated courses.

They also explained that the school's objectives are to build innovative learning systems that possess 21st century skills and contribute to building a knowledge-based national economy, providing high quality education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and preparing students to join prestigious universities that qualify them to become scientists, researchers and inventors, in addition to strengthening the Islamic, national and ethical values for students. They also explained the basics of the establishment of the school and the benefits of STEM education system.

They also reviewed the institutional values of the school, its educational materials and programmes and its laboratories, such as energy and manufacturing, robot, computer and virtual reality, and what distinguishes the school from other schools.

Director of the curricula and learning sources department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Rima Abu Khadija, made a presentation explaining the stages of developing Qatar's national curriculum, starting with the general framework of the national curriculum, an educational plan that includes all tracks that fit the students' abilities and tendencies, review the curriculum to conform to the updated national framework, revise the curriculum based on the recommendations resulting from the review process, prepare for the implementation of the developed curriculum in schools, and monitor feedback.

She also explained the features of the developed curriculum, which is a comprehensive educational curriculum that caters to the needs of all students and focuses on the competencies they need, and provides a clear and consistent educational approach in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 by applying a set of values, principles, goals and other features.

Also, the Omani delegation visited Al Hidaya kindergarten and school for special needs, where they were briefed on the services and programmes provided by the State for this category and how to benefit from Qatar's experiences in this regard.
