With Genesis’ concept car GV80 stealing the spotlight at the Qatar Motor Show (QMS) 2018, the luxury brand of Hyundai Motor Company is offering a glimpse of its larger and future line up.

“Genesis is planning to launch six lines of products by 2021 so the GV80 really shows where the luxury brand is going and an iteration of what is to come very soon,” Mohamed Jaidah, Group executive director, Jaidah Group, told Gulf Times.
Jaidah was speaking about the brand’s fuel cell concept SUV on the sidelines of QMS’ eighth edition, taking place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre until tomorrow (October 21).

Prior to its Middle East and Africa debut at show, the concept car was unveiled on October 14 to more than 300 VIPs at St Regis Doha in an exclusive event, organised by Skyline Automotive, a Jaidah Automotive company. It is also the official distribution partner of Hyundai Motor Company and its luxury brand Genesis in Qatar.
“I think that the first iteration of Genesis is about not going overboard but much more into saying ‘let’s do a top of the line product, make it perfect,” Jaidah said. “The Genesis comes with some of the most advanced technology I have ever seen.”

“My first impression when I drove this car was I feel that I am driving on a cloud, that’s how soft the driving is. It comes with so much technology in it, it has all the systems technology to help people drive (comfortably),” he noted.
Sometimes, I drive this car and when I move to a different car I am afraid because I got so used to its technology that going back to a different car that doesn’t have all these technologies I feel that I might not be as comfortable in the driving,” Jaidah explained. “It is part of the technology but the real technological revolution will come in the upcoming product.”
He expects the new model to be finished 12 to 18 months from now, apart from other products in the pipeline for Genesis.
Described as an extremely promising brand, Jaidah stressed that Genesis is not only looking at the product as a design but also the whole technology behind it.
The GV80 Concept is the brand’s first interpretation of a versatile luxury SUV, which strikes a perfect balance between elegance and versatility.
Equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology, the GV80 Concept car utilises a plug-in hydrogen fuel cell electric technology to combine eco-performance and capability.
Besides the concept car, some of the Genesis icons displayed at this year’s motor show are the G70, G90, G80 and G80 Sport.
About QMS, he described it as a prestigious and international event showcasing new and upcoming car models.
“It’s a very exciting time. This year the participants have been stepped up and we are very excited to have been able to bring a concept car to this motors show,” Jaidah said.
“It shows the dedication of manufacturers to a market like Qatar, even if it is a small market, it is a very important market for them and they want to be present,” he added.
