Qatar Ahmed al-Shammari won gold in the men’s 25m pistol competition in the QSAA Cup Shooting and Archery Championships at Lusail Shooting Club yesterday. The silver medal went to Riad Rustom, while Osama al-Shaibah won bronze.
Al-Shammari said that the competition was strong in the pistol competition, which requires high accuracy in order to win as many points as possible, and this is what he did during the competition.
The medal he his second since the start of the championship on Friday, stressing that the results achieved during this tournament will give him motivation to be among the elite in the national shooting team.
Al-Shammari hoped that strong competition would continue in the rest of the pistol competition during the tournament (10m and 50m).
For his part, the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Championship, Majid al-Nuaimi, said that the competitions held so far in the tournament were strong and he expected it to get better during the gun and rifle competitions, for women and girls.
He added that the tournament is a good opportunity for the Qatari team to be prepared before participating in the Arab championship in Qatar next month.
