The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) and Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to invest in human capital and facilitate the development and implementation of scientific and research projects.

Under the MoU, signed by HE Minister for Development Planning and Statistics Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit, and President of HBKU Dr. Ahmad M. Hasnah, professors, experts, and advisers at HBKU and the MDPS will engage in knowledge exchange. The MoU will facilitate seminars, academic forums and lectures about Qatar National Vision 2030, to achieve the collaboration objectives and interests of the Ministry.

HBKU will also receive student nominations for employees of the MDPS who want to pursue their graduate studies.

Additionally, joint training programs will be offered with a view to building and developing human capacities at the Ministry.

As part of the agreement, HBKU will also nominate masters and PhD students with the suitable competencies for internships at the ministry.

The MoU provides a framework to establish a joint committee comprising representatives from both parties.

The committee is set to meet on a quarterly basis, or when needed, to review common action plans towards the successful implementation of its provisions.

Commenting on the occasion, HE Minister for Development Planning and Statistics Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit said that the MoU outlines the Ministry's joint cooperation with HBKU to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030. Through the agreement, both parties will contribute to building the institutional and human capital capacities through research and specialized workshops on the planning and development sector.

HE the Minister underscored the role of the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics in formulating and implementing national development plans in cooperation with government agencies, relevant sectors, universities, research centers and community events.

He added that such agreements signed with national institutions like Hamad bin Khalifa University, aim to support the development process of the State of Qatar.

Noting the far-reaching significance of this collaboration, Dr. Hasnah said that HBKU, as a member of Qatar Foundation, is committed to the enrichment of human capital towards innovation and excellence.

He noted that the partnership with MDPS highlights a shared belief that our countrys future increasingly depends on the empowerment and development of the people, especially those who are employed within government entities, to effectively support the nations economic growth.

He noted that by working with government officials at the forefront of Qatars developmental strategy at MDPS, all seek to further strengthen the existing capabilities of the ministerial teams who keep policymakers informed on the economys growth and outlook, development priorities, implementation progress of existing projects, as well as vital censuses, statistical data and surveys.
