More than 40 photographs of various sports events in Qatar are featured at the ‘Sports Moments’ photo gallery by photographers Yousef al-Walidi and Mohamed Ali, which opened on Sunday at Katara – the Cultural Village.
Katara deputy general manager Ahmed al-Sayed and Abdulaziz al-Kubaisi, photography department manager at the Youth Hobbies Centre led the opening, which was also attended by several photography enthusiasts. Speaking at the opening ceremony, al-Sayed said Katara aims to provide an appropriate environment for young creative people to promote their professions and this photo gallery is one of Katara’s many opportunities founded for such cause.
Echoing al-Sayed’s statement, al-Kubaisi noted that the Youth Hobbies Centre has more than 2,000 photographer members, and this photo gallery by two expatriate photographers ensures the Centre’s goal of supporting the youth in their profession and passion regardless of their background.
Ali describes his participation in the photo gallery “as a great start for my career as it is the first time to take part in such event.”
“The fabulous sport events that were held in Qatar provided precious materials for me as a photographer, this will have a positive impact on my career”, he stressed.
Al-Walidi, on the other, said that this gallery aims to prove that Qatar has the capacity to host international sport events after the many successful world tournaments that happened in the past years.
