Qatari newspapers said yesterday in their editorials that the State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, has proved that it was one of the most influential countries politically and diplomatically all over the world.
The papers praised the important achievements of Qatari foreign policy, reflected in its strong ties with the major powers in dealing with the different regional and international challenges.
They highlighted the latest meeting between HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo yesterday, when they discussed bilateral ties and the latest regional developments.
The papers stressed that the meeting reflected the strategic co-operation between the two sides.
Arrayah said in its editorial that the two sides share the same views on a number of regional and international issues, highlighting that Qatar was an important ally to the United States in its fight against terrorism.
The paper said that the meeting was an opportunity to confirm the strategic partnership between the two sides, reflected by the constant deliberations and the political and economic partnership.
Washington also is aware of all the details of the GCC crisis, and has a strong desire to resolve it through diplomatic means, the editorial says. Arrayah said Qatari-American ties have been on the up recently, reflected by the bilateral agreements signed in all fields.
Al Watan highlighted Qatar’s various initiative to face regional and international challenges, and its joint work with powerful international groups and countries in that regard.
Al Watan said that Qatar’s political and economic achievements internationally have helped the country deal with the various global challenges.
Al Sharq praised in its editorial said that Qatar’s strong relations with the US and the ongoing consultations between Doha and Washington on issues of joint interest and regional challenges underscores the strategic dimension of their ties.
Al Sharq added that the meeting between Qatar and the United States established a vision for the future of their strategic partnership, and helped them agree on regional and international issues.
The paper highlighted the role of Qatar and the US as allies in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism through bilateral, regional and multilateral co-operation.
The editorial labelled the year 2018 a symbol of the strength of Qatari-American relations, where the strategic dialogue of bilateral relations rose to a broader perspective, reflected in bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding signed in various fields.
Al Sharq pointed out that the Gulf crisis remains at standstill, and that Qatar has expressed a clear position that the resolution will be through dialogue and respect for sovereignty.
The paper added that the United States has shown willingness to host the Gulf-US summit, which may be held in December or the beginning of 2019.
Al Sharq concluded by saying that this crisis has a negative impact and it is necessary to lift the blockade imposed on the State of Qatar to ensure stability and security in the region and the interests of the United States and other countries.
