Qatari exports to Jordan rose to 24mn Jordanian dinars (JD) during the last five months of 2018 compared to JD10.7mn in the corresponding period in 2017, according to figures released by the Jordanian Department of Statistics in its monthly report on foreign trade.

Prior to the siege imposed on Doha by the Saudi-led quarter on June 5, 2017, Jordan exported to Qatar between 400 and 500 tonnes of vegetables and fruits per day, which decreased due to the blockade to nearly 150 tonnes.
The Jordanian exports to Qatar followed two methods. The first was to ship heavy goods such as machinery and equipment from Aqaba (southern Jordan) to the Omani port of Salalah and from there to Hamad Port at almost double the cost of shipping and over a long perdiod of time.
The second was to send light-weight goods by air, which costs more than shipping.
