The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will implement a partial one-lane closure on both Al Corniche Street and Abdulla Bin Jassim Street, in the direction leading to Hamad Al Kabeer Street.

The closure will stretch for 300m on Al Corniche Street starting after the Jassim Bin Mohamed Street/Al Corniche Street intersection, Ashghal has said in a statement. Similarly, it will stretch for 450m on Abdulla Bin Jassim Street starting after the Jassim bin Mohamed Street/Abdulla Bin Jassim Street intersection.

To be implemented in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, the closure will start on Monday, August 20, and last for two months.

During this period, entrance and exit points to and from the northern side of Souq Waqif’s parking lot will be closed during night works.

The remaining lanes on Al Corniche and Abdulla Bin Jassim streets will remain open to traffic during the closure period, as shown on the attached map.

The closure is being carried out with the aim of enabling the completion of the first package of Phase 2 of a project to develop stormwater drainage networks, through which such networks will be constructed in 51 locations in Doha city, Ashghal has explained. These new networks will be linked to existing main drainage networks in the area, in addition to providing stormwater storage and control areas.

Ashghal has requested all road users to abide by speed limits and follow road signs to ensure the safety of all road users.
