An Indian expatriate who travelled to Mumbai recently died after suffering a cardiac arrest during his journey. Though he was taken to a hospital directly from the airport, his life could not be saved, said one of his friends.

Identified as R Suresh (pictured), the 52-year-old victim, who was working for a Doha-based company, had boarded the flight in the early hours on Wednesday from Doha, said the friend. He was buried in Kalyan on Thursday.

Suresh, who had been working in Doha for more than five years, had left the country at the beginning of the year and joined his new employer only a few months ago, inquiries found.

A native of Mannarkad in Kerala's Palakkad district, Suresh had moved to Mumbai several years ago and settled down at Teesgaon in Kalyan area. He leaves behind his wife and two children, aged 14 and 10 years.

Some of his friends from Mumbai said Suresh was in the forefront of charitable activities of the Kalyan chapter of Samanvyam, a local voluntary forum.
