Strong winds are expected in most parts of the country on Saturday along with poor visibility in some places due to dust, the Met department has said.
The weather office has also issued a marine warning for strong winds and high seas on Saturday.
Saturday’s weather conditions will mark the beginning of a spell, continuing until Tuesday, in which fresh to strong northwesterly winds are expected to affect the country along with dusty conditions.
The windy conditions are likely to reach their peak during the daytime and weaken at night, the Met department has said in a report.
Blowing dust will cause a drop in visibility – to below 2km at times – especially on Sunday and Monday with the conditions influencing most areas in Qatar. A dust mass is also likely to form in the northern Arabian Gulf, which may affect the country in the same period.
In addition, rough sea conditions are expected and high temperatures will also continue in the country.
The Met department has urged people to be careful and avoid marine activities during this period.
On Saturday, the wind speed is expected to reach 28 knots in some inshore areas and 25 knots offshore, with the sea level rising to 7ft at times. Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 3km or less at times.
The maximum temperature is likely to be 45C in Wakrah and Mesaieed, followed by 44C in Doha and 42C in Al Khor.
On Friday, the maximum temperature was 46C in Batna and 44C in Doha.
