HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi has briefed participants of a forum in Moscow on Qatar’s ongoing and rapid urban development as well as plans for the future in this regard, which take into account Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
In his speech at the Moscow Urban Forum, held in the Russian capital under the title ‘Megacity of the Future: New Space for Living’, HE the Minister said these development plans derive their main features from the second phase of Qatar National Vision 2030.
He touched upon what has been achieved in the areas of infrastructure, transportation, smart city and stadiums that will host 2022 World Cup matches, pointing to Qatar’s transformation into a knowledge economy, other scientific and cultural transformations and its interest in investing in the Qatari people.
On the sidelines of his participation in the forum, HE al-Rumaihi met with the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov as well as with with the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development and Construction, Marat Khusnullin.
During the two meetings, they discussed ways of co-operation in the field of large construction and infrastructure - benefiting from the vast experience gained by the Russian capital through hosting the recently concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup.
