The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a short-term traffic diversion on Orbital Road as the tunnel prior to Umm Al Juwashin Interchange, leading to Al Khor, will be closed.

The detour has been designed in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic to facilitate the construction of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route.
The diversion will be implemented in two stages on two back-to-back weekends: the first phase commences Thursday midnight (July 12) and continues until Saturday (July 14), and the second phase starts on July 19 (Thursday) midnight and continues until July 21, Saturday, Ashghal has said in a statement.
During the closure, road users travelling on Orbital Road from Mesaieed and Salwa Road to Al Khor can continue their journey to Umm Al Juwashin Interchange where Orbital Road intersects with Dukhan Road.
Then, motorists should use the northeastern loop leading to Dukhan Road and drive for a distance of 1km, then turn right onto the next exit and follow the signage to re-join the Orbital Road.
Ashghal will instal the new guiding signage and has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit of 80kph and follow the new signs for their safety.
