HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti has announced the State of Qatar's contribution of $1 million to support the No Country Left Behind (NCLB) campaign launched by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to help ensure better coordination and implementation of recommended standards and practices at the global level with regard to the activities of the aviation security management and facilities, particularly in the priority areas of safety, air navigation and aviation security.

This came during a reception ceremony hosted by the State of Qatar under the patronage and presence of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications on the occasion of the opening of Qatar's Permanent Office at the ICAO in Montreal in Canada.

The ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries in the field of civil aviation, headed by HE President of the ICAO Council Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, and all representatives of the Member States of the Organization as well as a number of officials from the Qatari and Canadian sides.

During the ceremony, Qatar's hosting of the 5th ICAO Training Conference in December 2018, one of the largest conferences on aviation training with the participation of more than 500 participants from around the world, was announced.

According to the official results issued by the ICAO in 2017, the State of Qatar is at the forefront of world countries in the application of civil aviation security standards, as it scored 99.10% in applying the guidelines of annex 17 on Safeguarding International Civil Aviation, which is the most important criterion in the field of security auditing. This indicates the great qualitative leap that the State of Qatar has achieved in the field of aviation security and airports, which in turn enhances its position in this sector among the countries of the world.
