Qatar University (QU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Kuwait-based Arab Planning Institute (API) on joint co-operation in the fields of consulting, training, research, studies, institutional support and development forums.
The agreement was signed on behalf of QU by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr Omar Mohammed al-Ansari, while API Director General Dr Bader Othman Malallah represented the institute. 
The two sides affirmed their desire for joint co-operation in the areas of entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises, and joint work in the field of exchanging experiences and providing advice to various parties.
Al-Ansari said that the signing of this MoU comes within the framework of QU’s belief in the vital and effective role of the scientific and development institutions, the joint Arab labour institutions and the role of expertise in the Arab world.
He explained that the MoU seeks to exchange information and experience to raise the efficiency of the performance of the two parties according to the overall quality standards.
Malallah, for his part, praised the signing of the MoU with a distinguished university, and commended QU’s innovative initiatives in the different development fields and its pioneering role in Qatar’s renaissance.
The MoU focuses on enhancing the joint work between the university and the institute in the field of information exchange, including publications, periodicals, studies, statistics and data, and co-operation in organising various events, conferences, meetings and training.
The MoU will also strengthen cooperation in the field of scientific research and studies, as well as co-operation in other possible areas of common 
interest to both parties.
API is an Arab development institution that aims to support the efforts of the economic and social development departments in the Arab countries by building and developing national human capacities, providing advisory services and institutional support, preparation of researches and general and specialised studies, seminars and conferences, issuing specialised reports, publications and books specialised in development issues, and other missions.
