The Advisory Council's weekly regular session held on Monday under the chairmanship of its Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud, held a discussion on the status of 'judicial seizure'.
Judicial seizure is included in the Consumer Protection Law and other laws that grant some employees the status of law enforcement officers, with a view to addressing the shortcomings in the judicial control works.
After an extensive discussion, the Council decided to refer the request to the Services and Public Utilities Committee for further study and a report.
At the outset of the meeting, al-Mahmoud briefed the Council on the results of the 27th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Cairo on Thursday.
The Speaker of the Advisory Council said that the conference examined the general conditions of the Arab nation and the various aspects of conflict, as well as the possibility of overcoming them as required by the historical duty and the general responsibility of the Arab parliamentarians.
Al-Mahmoud said that the Conference strongly condemned the Israeli occupation and settlement activity and affirmed the right of the Palestinian people to return to their land and their right to establish their independent State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Advisory Council Speaker also briefed the Council on his meetings held on the sidelines of the Arab Parliamentary Conference with a number of speakers of Arab parliaments, in which they discussed enhancing and developing parliamentary relations between Qatar and their countries and challenges facing the Arab nation, especially with regard to the Palestinian cause.
During the meeting, the Council welcomed the final communique issued by the 27th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and considered it a new platform to support the just Arab issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, and resolve Arab disputes and conflicts through constructive dialogue and by mobilising capacities to serve the construction and reconstruction.
