The Saudi air force intercepted a missile over the northeastern part of the capital Riyadh last night, Saudi state television said.
Reuters reporters in the capital said they heard several loud booms shortly before midnight.
The apparent Houthi rebel attack coincides with the third anniversary of the Saudi-led coalition's intervention in Yemen.
There were no immediate reports of any casualties.
