The committee for resolving labour disputes will start functioning from March 18, as part of the implementation of the stipulations of Law No. 13 of 2017. Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) and the Supreme Judicial Council have announced that courts will not accept any new labour cases from March 18.

Accordingly, all labour disputes will be received through MADLSA's Labour Relations Department at Al Huda Tower, Dafna; MADLSA Office at the Industrial Area; MADLSA Office in Al Khor and MADLSA headquarters in Dafna for the Qataris working in the private sector. The committee was created to expedite the resolution of labour disputes and ease the relevant litigation procedures for workers in the country. The maximum period for reviewing the disputes before the committee is set as one month, including the time for any potential appeal.
